The last round of the 250LONDON BMX Series 2017 took us back to Velopark and, once again, Hackney BMX Club were our hosts. It's always a good event there and this one didn't disappoint.
SELFIE FRAME MUG SHOTS
Just look at these happy wee faces....
ON THE MIC
The Big Man at the helm, as usual, was our resident "Uncle Buck", who kept all the riders and their parents on track and on time for their Motos, as well as providing entertaining banter all day on the mic, to a cool soundtrack provided by DJ Ryan Flyz.
Uncle Buck had this to say...
"LDNBMX once again proved it is the grass roots BMX Race series to be involved in, not only in London, but UK wide. We attracted regular numbers at each round and in some cases the same or more than a UK Regional race series with qualification points.
It has given us so much fun seeing all these new riders from London Clubs and beyond be a part and learn their trade at our series.
It now gives us a base to build on and recently LDNBMX voted on becoming a BMX Region in its own right with full qualification points to the British Championships. The plan is to roll this out for the 2019 Season, so watch this space for updates.
Big shout out to 250LONDON for last year for making the series as good as it is and we wish 250LONDON all the best as they move on to other sports promoting their brand.
2018 will see a few new ideas and we will keep some of the old ideas to add spice to the series.
We wish all our riders and supporters all the best for 2018 and we hope to see you all at the first race of the year at Hayes Hawks BMX Club on March 25th.
Keep spinning guys and keep the MX in BMX."
UNCLE BUCK, LDNBMX
OFF THE TRACK...
There was a fab atmosphere around the track and in the pits, here are some of the usual suspects doing their thing...
ON THE TRACK...
Unfortunately for the riders, our star Photographer Tony Twist, of TT BMX Pics, was unavailable to take his killer action shots so Jen hit the track with her Nikon and, although these aren't up to Tony's standards, they still show proof of some great racing!
VIP IN THE HOUSE...
We had a very special guest on the day, UCI Junior Female World Champion, Bethany Shriever! She hung out for the day, chatting to riders, offering support and presented the riders with their medals and trophies at the end of the day. Here she is with her biggest fan!!
THE WINNERS GALLERY...
The Prize giving was held quite late in the day, although these pics give them impression it was actually dusk! (Jen should just have used her iPhone) But hey, they're still great, check out these utter stars and champs of the future...
DONE + DUSTED
So there you have it, the suitably super finale of the 250LONDON BMX Series 2017 and what a belter of a series it was! Jen, repping 250 below, was very happy at the end, happy to have been involved in such a great series again. Sponsoring the series has been a very sociable experience, we've really enjoyed working with and meeting lots of amazing people, from the riders and their parents, to the club reps, the British Cycling Commissaires and everyone at LDN BMX who keep the wheels turning and the show on the road.
GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
Sadly 250LONDON won't be the series sponsor this year because we must spread our wings across many other disciplines, but we will be dipping in and out, that's for sure. In fact, we'll be at the very first round of the 2018 Series on Sunday 25th March, at Hayes Hawks because...... WE'RE SPONSORING THE PARENTS' RACES, WOO HOO!! More news on that to follow but, Mums and Dads, get training, because you are up!
Keep an eye on the LDN BMX Facebook page for entries opening for Round 1!
That's it from us for now folks, catch you soon.
